The 20th Anniversary of the Skidaway Island Rotary Club

Posted by Doreen Higgins on Oct 31, 2017
Our Rotary Club was chartered on October 30th, 1997, and last week we celebrated its 20th anniversary at a party attended by some sixty people at the home of Steve and Diane Graham. The party was hosted by Toni Marwitz, our current President. We welcomed special guests District Governor Hamsa Thota and previous District Governor Pam Lightsey. Mick McKay from the Savannah Sunrise Club and Andy Lohn from Savannah South came to celebrate with us.

Our most special thanks must first go to Steve and Diane for the loan of their beautiful home for our celebrations and our member Karen Jahn who did all the really hard work of organizing, arranging, publicizing, and last but not least, clearing up everything. Karen achieved a wonderful party and we thank her for all her kindness in doing this for us.

Three charter members came to our party: Gwen DeWalt, Larry White, and Bob Neumann. Our program listed the club’s twenty past presidents and tribute was also paid to those members who had served the club for ten years or more.

There was wine and champagne, multiple hors d’oeuvres created by the cooks among us, and a magnificent birthday cake. Everyone had a wonderful evening and multiple thanks are given to all who contributed.
