Bill Jahn, our new president for the coming Rotary year, presented himself, his officers, board, and programs to us recently.  Bill is our president through June 2017; our president-elect is Toni Marwitz. Shown below is the passing of the gavel from Tom Macek to President Bill with Toni on the left.
Other officers include vice-president Bob Murphy, secretary George Sedberry, treasurer Jim Eleczko, and sergeant-at-arms Kevin Hertzwig.  Members of the board are Cliff Lindholm, Bob Neumann, Jim Hazel, Anne Dauray, and Karen Jahn.  Toni Marwitz and Tom McGoldrick will support the club’s attendance and function at the Rotary International Conference in Atlanta in 2017.
We welcomed a new member, Lynn Gensamer, to our club; Lynn is transferring from the Savannah Rotary Club.  She retired recently as the Executive Director of the Savannah Chatham County Humane society and is a Landings resident.
Our president turned to his vision of this, his presidential year.  What do we enjoy doing? He answered that we like our interesting speakers, and we like each other and meeting socially. We are quite passionate about all our hands-on projects which include support for early childhood education, youth leadership development, and international humanitarian efforts including Polio Plus.  We viewed a detailed presentation of our budget for the coming year with some commitments, and suggestions, for fund-raising in the coming year.
We will continue to meet every week with some variations on our usual breakfast schedule. In July and August we will breakfast every other week, and the other weeks we will have social meetings, cocktails, dinner, etc.  For the remainder of the Rotary year, September – June, we will have three breakfast meetings and one social meeting every month.  In addition in these months there will be six Hands-on Project gatherings.
We were given details of all our committees and the members of each.  Susan Kleine, our area GRSP advisor,  is looking for a host family for  this coming academic year (see separate article). We were also advised that there will be a District Assembly on July 30th in Dublin, GA.    We’ll be busy!
