The Skidaway Island Rotary Club has multiple projects currently active or planned for the coming year. All benefit local children and youth in need of help, support and/or learning as they start out in life.
We continue to work with the Isle of Hope and Hesse schools by our reading and mentoring programs. We pack regularly for Second Harvest, participate in teaching sessions for Junior Achievement and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership) at various local schools, and offer year-long support, accommodations and social activities for our GRSP (Georgia Rotary Student Program). Our GRSP students come to Georgia from all over the world for one academic year in a Georgia University paid for by Georgia Rotary Clubs, with the objective of familiarizing them with American customs and way-of-life. We are long-time supporters of Safe Shelter, and we have a partnership with the Rotary Club of St. Simons offering financial aid to Puerto Rico after the disastrous hurricanes Irma and Maria. We are proud to be on-going supporters of the Polio Plus project, in which all Rotary Clubs contribute money to the effort by Rotary International to eliminate polio from the world. Polio is now confined to Afghanistan and Pakistan, all other nations are free of it.

We are working on new initiatives to extend and augment the publicity for our club with the primary objectives of increasing our membership and letting a wider public know what we do. We will sponsor and organize two fund raisers this Rotary year. They are comedy shows at the Plantation Club, the first on November 13th, 2019 and the second on February 25th and 26th, 2020. Mark your calendars and look for more detail on our website.
